Very cool! But the timing is very inconvenient, is it possible to move the live zooms to the evenings? The volunteer program I've been a part of for a few years is during the times you plan to use...
Great to see early career exposure focused on the historcal heroes narrative. The shift from seeing problems as overwhelming to seeing them as solvable because others did it before is powerful framing. Curious how the 10-hour essay process works for clarifying goals at that age.
Thank you, Jason! Otherwise, he is a sophomore, has finished honors bio, doing now honors chemistry and introduction into biotech. Studying Campbell Biology at free time.
He sounds great! Unfortunately we do require live participation, with only very limited room for absences, and we don't have any other times this cohort. Sorry, we hope to offer more cohorts in the future.
Thank you, Jason - I really appreciate you looking into it. Totally understand the live participation requirement and limited absences. We’re going to see if there’s any flexibility in his crew practice schedule to make this cohort workable; if not, we’ll plan to join a future cohort if you add another time. Either way, thanks again
They're...charging for this? :( Medicine isn't something most poors study anymore I guess, which is unfortunate.
I work with specimens in pathology. It's a little basic but I think it's important for those seeking to cure disease to get some hands on time with organs and tissues.
We charge families who can afford it, to cover the costs of the program. The amount is typical for programs like this. We will provide scholarships for students whose families can't afford the tuition, as much as we can get donations/sponsorships for.
Yes, we are—just like universities, which also charge tuition; symphony halls, which charge for tickets; and museums, which charge entry fees. Nonprofits can and should generate revenue from programs, not only from philanthropic donations.
If we didn't charge tuition, then the families who could have afforded it anyway get a free ride that they don't need, and we just end up helping fewer students.

Thanks! We can’t move the sessions, I’m afraid. Next year we’ll try to make different times available

Hi, my son would love to do your program but he is an elite rower and your daily sessions overlap with his practices. Is there any workaround?
I'll check with the team

If they're in DC I can show them the discipline upon which all medicine is based.
Context pls? What do you mean?
My thought - Excellent idea! Then I saw program cost is $2,000. There's gonna have to be a lot of scholarships.

Aren't you all like a nonprofit or something?

Fair enough.
