I think it's cool that you're doing this, but the OpenAI grant certainly raises eyebrows 🤨.
I don't know precisely what the distribution of AGI timelines looks like at OpenAI, but if they believe timelines are short, but they are paying for a series of posts about timelines being much longer, well one might wonder whether this is an attempt to avoid regulation...
On the other hand, it's not like I want funders to only fund people who agree with them on everything. That seems really bad as well.
I guess I've kind of put them in an unfair bind/Catch 22, but I don't know, often it feels worthwhile just honestly sharing how you see things.
How will AI be used to allocate supply of natural resources, food, and medicines that are insufficient to meet demand?
How will AI be used to improve cost benefit analysis, quality control, coordination of projects that involve multiple vendors and evaluate their progress?
How will AI be used to protect personal identities and sensitive information?
How will AI be used to label false vs questionable vs factual information and visuals?
How can AI be used to devise effective programs for rehabilitating most criminals?
What guardrails will AI devise to prevent destructive uses of AI?
Assuming AI is used successfully and reduces needed personnel requirements in all forms of work, how will most people have enough income to enjoy their standard of living - will users of AI be taxed to provide supplemental income to their personnel, the unemployed, the disabled?
Near future = reasonably foreseeable, the coming years or few decades. Something we can do by extrapolating current trends, aka “nearcasting.”
I'm not sure which assumptions you're thinking about, or how you think you might not be aligned with them; but make a compelling case and if you convince us then great!

How many articles are you looking to select at the end of this series?
No fixed number, as many as are worthwhile. I think there are easily a couple dozen pieces worth writing on this theme
Hi, the pitch itself is expected to be 2.500 words or it can/should be shorter?
Shorter! That's the article length… pitch should be a few hundred words probably, like a few paragraphs.
How do you define the near future? Do pitches have to align with your assumptions about AI to be selected?
